Sustainability 2020
We are very proud to share with you our first sustainability report, which relates the main achievements of our sustainable management in the operations of Agrovision Perú and Arena Verde.
We have used the methodology of theGlobal Reporting Initiative (GRI) that demands a materiality process to establish the main environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) impacts of our company, and of our stakeholders. In this sense, we held consultation panels with collaborators, suppliers, communities, clients, consumers, Government representatives and financial entities.
The main contents that you will find in our report include projects, practices and indicators aligned with 8 SDG(Sustainable Development Goals) which express our interest in continuing to develop strategies aligned with our business purpose: transforming land and lives.
In the economic aspect, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we have been able to materially increase the level of our exports, forming part of the top agro-exporting companies of Peru in the Agriculture category.
In the environmental aspect, we have the Forestry Project Sowing Future, environmental initiative that responds to SDG 13 and 15, which seeks to preserve the dry forest, a unique ecosystem in the world, which includes a conservation plan of the semi-dry forests of the north coast of Peru. This project, awarded the2020 National Environmental Prize2020 "Antonio Brack Egg” shows that1,800 planted hectares of export agriculture can live together sustainably with the 2,000 hectares of registered forest reserves.
In the social aspect, we have various projects oriented towards generating employment in our areas of influence, generating approximately 20,000 local jobs.
Additionally, we have focused on providing equal work opportunities for the women of the areas surrounding our operations. And, on the other hand, through theSowing Peace program, we have worked to prevent and combat family violence.
In this 2020, we have increased our investment in the health and wellbeing of our people implementing necessary biosafety measures. In the same manner, we have continued supporting the communities in health aspects with the donation of medicine, screening tests ofCovid-19, and social support actions. We thank all of our stakeholders for the trust deposited in us and we rearm our commitment to local sustainable development and the practice of sustainable agriculture.
